Mill shut down for British Gypsum Mountfield works
“After 25 years Wright engineering are proud to still be one of the most trusted contractors for large, difficult and process crucial works for British Gypsum.”
Wright engineering have recently completed various shut works to both the board and mill plant for British Gypsum. The main section of works revolved around the complete overhaul of the plants only kettle. The kettle is a crucial part of the process and one which if not correct the plant would be completed stood.
Using our years of experience working in live and new build plants installing large equipment in confined and challenging environments, we successful completed the full overhaul of the kettle including fabrication upgrades and repairs, complete removal and installation of the elements and inner tube, isolation and re install of the gas supply sealing and commissioning support.
The works were not only carried out to the highest of both safety and quality standards but well ahead of schedule allowing other curtail upgrades to be completed in the 7 day shut down.
The largest section of the works included the removal of the main kettle tube weighing 8tonnes using specially installed lifting beams and chain blocks over and around the existing plant, with careful planning we were able to complete this task with at times just mm of clearance meaning that other major components of the plant could stay in situ reducing both the down time and costs for the works.
British Gypsum were one of Wright engineering first major clients and we are extremely proud to still keep the same reputation for quality and dedication after continued growth over our 25 year relationship. To still be the contract who can be trusted with the most difficult of jobs.
