Rock load out system for British Gypsum at East Leake

British Gypsum Limited at East Leake Works, Leicestershire, have been a client of Wright Engineering for over 20 years. We have worked with BG Engineers during this period to understand the demands that the handling of raw gypsum makes on conveying equipment, the way the material flows, and the aggressive wear that poor design can produce on installed equipment.

With this in mind, late in 2005, we were given the task of providing a series of conveyors to take cement rock (a by product of the mining of gypsum) from existing hoppers, and enable this material to be loaded into lorries for disposal.

As is usual with these types of project, the space for the conveyors was extremely tight. The requirement for good maintenance access for cleaning and repairs remained and our design staff produced a scheme that satisfied BG Engineers both on price and practicality.

The installation was undertaken within a strict timeframe for shutting down the plant and integrating the new equipment into the old.
The system now handles and loads transport at a rate of 300 tonnes per hour, as per the designers calculations.
