Wright Engineering is delighted to announce that Michael Hutchinson has been awarded the ECITB’s Apprentice of the Year accolade.

Michael is currently working in the fabrication department and training to become a Plater. In view of his outstanding work performance and determination to succeed in his role, the company decided to nominate him as part of the ECI Training and Development Awards 2021.

In deciding the winner, the ECI judges were looking for a candidate that had made a significant contribution to the business, demonstrated a clear commitment to their own personal development and displayed inspirational qualities.

Michael certainly met all of the above criteria. Indeed, he has been heavily involved with two complex fabrication projects, specifically the manufacture of a frame for a nuclear operator in France and a silo for a gypsum processing plant in the UK. Further, he continues to develop his skillset having completed the Abrasive Wheels, Manual Handling and Safe Slinging and Moving Loads qualifications. Finally, he has managed to continue with his apprenticeship despite the significant challenges that he has faced due to having a young family.

Paul Gibson (Managing Director – Fabrication) stated within the ECI application that ‘Michael’s work is always to an extremely high standard’ and ‘Michael is one of the best Apprentices I have ever had the pleasure of employing. He is hardworking . . . with a sheer drive to better himself’.

We want to congratulate Michael on his award which is thoroughly deserved.
