CCNSG SAFETY PASSPORT
The CCNSG (Client Contractor National Safety Group) Safety Passport is recognised as the gold standard safety card. It is mandated for all Staff and Operatives who wish to enter or work in Power Stations, Oil Refineries, Chemical Works and many other Engineering and Construction Sites throughout the UK.
The following topics are covered:
- Safe behaviours at work and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
- Risk Assessments.
- Permit systems.
- Hierarchy of Risk Control.
- Manual Handling.
- Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations.
- COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations).
- Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome.
- Working in confined spaces and working at height.
- Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations.
- Site transport.
- Signage.
- Excavations.
- Electric / Isolation.
- Environment.
- Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences (RIDDOR).
Candidates take a series of four multiple choice Tests during the two days.
The following topics are covered:
- Update on legislation and safety practices.
- Refresher on topics covered in the safety passport.
- Hazard spotting and job safety analysis.
Candidates take two multiple choice Tests during the day.
There is no classroom workshop and no training or assistance given. Candidates are expected to have revised their health and safety knowledge prior to the test.
The test is:
- Touchscreen.
- c1.5 to 2 hours.
- Consists of 60 multiple choice questions.
Candidates are permitted two attempts at the online test before having to attend the CCNSG Renewal Course.
IOSH MANAGING SAFELY
Delivered over three or four days, the IOSH Managing Safely in The Engineering Construction Industry provides managers and supervisors with the knowledge and skills they require to effectively manage Health and Safety in a site environment. Upon successful completion of the course and assessment, candidates are awarded a ‘Managing Safely’ certificate from ECITB/IOSH – the world’s largest Health and Safety organisation.
The course is constructed around seven basic modules:
- 1. Health and Safety – legal and moral frameworks.
- 2. Understanding statutory and civil responsibilities.
- 3. Identifying Hazards.
- 4. Assessing Risks.
- 5. Controlling Risks – Permit Systems.
- 6. Investigating Accidents and Incidents.
- 7. Measuring Performance.
There is an end-of-course assessment comprising of 30 multi-format questions, and a short project (to develop a formal detailed Risk Assessment) which has to be submitted within two weeks of the end of the course.
